ROSH HASHANA 2020/ 5781

Dear Friends:

No one has escaped the impact of COVID-19. Yet vulnerable populations are always more vulnerable in challenging times, be they days of war, economic depression, or pandemic.

With that knowledge, Ten Gav launched our Corona Relief Fund quickly and you responded in kind.

The Fund has provided rent assistance for those most at risk of losing homes;  computers and tablets for those falling desperately behind in school and/or feeling socially alienated;  and tuition payments for those who may have otherwise had to drop out of higher education.

As Rosh Hashana 2020 approaches and we look back on all the good we have done together since Rosh Hashana 2019, we can feel very grateful.  As we plan the coming year we ask you to consider how you can partner with us further. If you have put away for the proverbial “rainy day” - it is upon us now.  This is the time to draw on those resources and help who you can.  It is the time to be grateful that you can give.

We stand in solidarity with and lend our support to those who have lost friends and family members during the past months and pray the New Year will bring with it, first and foremost, blessings for good health.

Shana Tova!

Naomi & Vivi

FROM ROSH HASHANA 2019 TO ROSH HASHANA 2020 we have distributed with your partership:

THE CORONA RELIEF FUND - UPDATE AND NUMBERS

After consultations with our partner social workers in agencies around the country, Ten Gav established the CORONA Relief Fund in March 2020 in order to deal with extraordinary circumstances created by the impact of the coronavirus.

The response of our donors has been as extraordinary as the times and we have raised $122,000 which has been given out in the form of computers, tablets, rent assistance, and course tuition payments to needy families from Dimona, Rishon LeZion, Kiryat Malachi and Holon.  We have assisted 193 families to date.

As we plan the coming months until the end of 2020 we expect to receive an additional 15 requests for rent assistance, 125 requests for computers and tablets, and 15 requests for assistance with tuition payments.  As a result, we have revised our initial goal of raising $158,000 / 550,000 NIS - the bulk of which has been raised in Phase I of our Corona Relief Fund - to a new goal of raising $283,000 / 965,000 NIS by the end of Phase II, which we anticipate being December 31, 2020.

We share this thank you note from a working mother of 11 who was let go from her job and who we assisted with her rent:

July 26, 2020

I wanted to thank you from the depths of my heart for the meaningful help that you have extended during these crazy days of the coronavirus pandemic when financial difficulties find expression each step of the way.

THE DONOR EXPERIENCE - A LETTER FROM THE GILBERT FAMILY

“When we are looking to give charity, we have two main priorities. First, we like to be sure that our money is being used efficiently by trustworthy, intelligent people. Second, we like to know that our donation will actually make a difference in somebody’s life. Donating through Ten Gav meets both of these criteria perfectly, and is an extremely rewarding experience.
